About Eroca Shaler
I have been in private psychotherapy practice since 1980 and working as a psychologist since 1971. I have been a Registered Psychologist since the Psychologists’ Act was enacted in British Columbia.

My Clientele: I work with adults and older adolescents of both genders. I have contracts to provide funded services to persons with First Nations status and to people who were abused when wards of the B. C. government as children. My location in the downtown core is convenient for my clients who live and work in that area, while my proximity to major public transit routes draws clients from other areas of the city and the suburbs.

My Special Interests: While I have a broad range of experience, I have studied most extensively in the areas of psychological trauma and addictions. I have worked in the area of sexual abuse therapy since 1985 and with issues of co-dependency and Adult Children of Alcoholics since the early 80's. I have extensive experience with 12 Step programs. See my curriculum vitae for a brief overview of my professional experience.

Psychotherapy: I begin the psychotherapy process with an informal initial assessment and the establishment of rapport. Therapy may be short or long term, depending on the needs and financial resources of the client. I prefer to let the process evolve rather than imposing pre-conceived restrictions on it. I find the presenting issue is often a doorway to more important, foundational issues.

The techniques I use are:
- client centered counselling
- hypnosis
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- One Eye Integration
- Energy Diagnostic and Treatment Methods (EDxTM)
- the Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT)
- Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
- Process Healing.
- I also refer some clients out for Neurofeedback.
For more information on these techniques, see the Links section. I have chosen these techniques because I have found them to be highly effective and efficient.

Smoking Cessation: I have a one session smoking cessation protocol, using acupressure and hypnosis.  Client feedback indicates a favourable success rate.

Psychological Reports: Reports and assessments are available on a limited basis.

Training: I began providing training in Advanced Energy Psychology (fromerly known as Energy Diagnostic and Treatment methods or EDxTM) in the fall of 2003. As a Level II trainer, I train practitioners in the first two levels of the four part certification training. Please contact me for information about upcoming trainings.
